FAQ

When are you getting married?

April 13, 2024, 5 p.m. Please arrive by 4:30 p.m.

Where is the wedding?

We are getting married at Waterloo Village, a ghost town (formerly a mill town), in Stanhope, New Jersey. Reception will follow at Waterloo. Ample parking is available.

How do I RSVP?

Please RSVP here by March 1, 2024 so we can finalize all the things that require finalizing.

Why on earth are you marrying Dan?

A good sense of humor (mine not his…)

How do I get there?

Here are Google driving directions

Waterloo is not readily accessible by public transport, so we suggest driving or getting an Uber or Lyft from your hotel.

Nearest airports: Newark (50 min), Westchester (1h20), LaGuardia (1h15)

Is this wedding child-friendly?

Absolutely! We love you and your moppets and can’t wait to celebrate with you! In the RSVP section, let us know some details about who will be joining you.

Will there be any famous people at the wedding?

We’ve invited the Obamas, Tim Minchin, and Bo Burnham, but they have not responded. Fingers crossed. Also, Eddie’s been featured in plays, musicals, concerts, and has been nominated for and won several awards.  In addition, Dan’s the unofficial mayor of axe league. Several expected guests also boast certain levels of fame/infamy – you’ll just have to mingle to find out what kind!

Will there be childcare available?

We are working with My Fair Nanny, a local event childcare service, to provide childcare and activities for our younger guests. The number of childcare professionals we’ll have on hand will depend on the number of moppets we expect to attend – please be sure to complete the RSVP form so we can make sure to accommodate accordingly.

What’s the dress code?

Wear whatever makes you feel fantastic (and maybe bring a coat – it can be chilly in mid-April).

Hats (including fascinators) are of course most welcome, but not required. Level of formality or ridiculousness is entirely up to you. Dan, his groomsmen, the dads, and the intrepid officiant will be modeling a variety of top and bowler hats. Jess will not be wearing a hat (during the ceremony at least).

Note that the ceremony (weather permitting) will be held outdoors, and there is some uneven terrain and gravel paths, so plan accordingly with your footwear. We also encourage you to explore Waterloo, as there are a number of gorgeous historic buildings in the park.

Cocktail hour and reception will be held indoors; weather permitting, lawn games will be available during cocktail hour.

I have dietary restrictions. Can you accommodate them?

We will do our utmost! To help us plan, there’s a section in the RSVP where you can let us know of any dietary restrictions you have.

Where can we stay?

We’ve booked two room blocks local to Waterloo:

  • Hampton Inn, Denville
    • 22 mins from Waterloo
    • We will be setting up a hospitality suite here as well for the weekend (including post-reception food & drinks)
    • To make reservations under the room block: Hampton Inn Reservations
  • Townplace Suites, Rockaway
    • 24 mins from Waterloo
    • Suite-style (vs. standard room style); rooms equipped with larger fridge / seating area
    • To make reservations under the room block:  Townplace Suites Reservations

Any local restaurants?

  • Stonewood Tavern (10 mins from Waterloo, good New American rustic with a bar)
  • Bell’s Mansion (8 mins from Waterloo, 1800s mansion, allegedly haunted, a little on the fancier side)
  • Hibernia Diner (near Hampton Inn Denville / 8 mins from Townplace Suites Rockaway)
  • Miller’s Ale House (near Townplace Suites / 8 mins from Hampton Inn – sports pub)

Is it true that Zach Galifianakis is considering making another Hangover Movie based on Dan’s bachelor party?

Officially, we can’t comment due to some “issues” being raised by the FDA,  NSA, Dan’s lawyer, and his mom (a/k/a “the people who don’t let me have any fun”). Also, Dan has his heart set on being played by Gene Wilder in his biopic, and I didn’t have the heart to tell him.

What’s the schedule for the big day?

  • Ceremony: 5 p.m. (It’s about a 10 minute leisurely stroll from the parking lot to the ceremony location; there will be some golf carts available as well. Plan to arrive by 4.30 so you get a good seat and can say hello to the alpacas)
  • Cocktail Hour: 5.30 p.m.
  • Reception: 6.30 p.m. – 10.30 p.m.
  • Afterparty: After – at Hampton Inn Denville / Hospitality Suite

What’s this about alpacas?

There will be two alpacas joining for cocktail hour. They enjoy participating in selfies. They may be wearing top hats. Or bowties. Possibly both. They’re quite friendly.

Do you have a registry?

Also, if you have suggestions of the best restaurant in Rome, or a particular Venetian gondolier who will change our lives, or the best winery in Tuscany, or just the weirdest ossuary you ever did see – please tell us! We’d love any input or tips you have. Thank you!

If you have any other questions send them to us with this form.
